Lifeline, Lifetime. Acrylic on canvas, 2013

Lifeline, Lifetime 1. Acrylic on canvas, 60"x84", 2013

Lifeline/Lifetime are a continuation of the Fogo Island Painting Series. This diptych is made up of 2 large scale 5' x 7' acrylic on canvas painting. The paintings draw attention to Fogo Island's barren, rugged, and isolated landscape. The inspiration for this series came during my participation in a workshop with the Shorefast Foundation from 2010–13 that explored the aesthetics of outport interiors. Spending weeks at a time on the island during a harsh winter season fueled feelings that later poured into the images depicted. While the workshop focused on interiors, my paintings, created in 2013, are devoted to exteriors.

Fogo Island Paintings is a collection of eight paintings. Each piece is a 18" x 22" acrylic on canvas painting, made by combining screenprinting and traditional painting techniques. The paintings draw attention to Fogo Island's barren, rugged, and isolated landscape. The inspiration for this series came during my participation in a workshop with the Shorefast Foundation in February 2010 that explored the aesthetics of outport interiors. Spending three weeks on the island during a harsh winter season fueled feelings that later poured into the images depicted. While the workshop focused on interiors, my paintings, created between March 2010 and February 2011, are devoted to exteriors.
